Dutch Grand Round Number 1

Dutch Grand Round with tulips

This is the first Dutch Grand Round and I have the honor to present them to you. A lot of my readers are from the US and Uk but don’t despair, two of the entries are in Englis as well as in Dutch.

Welcome to the August 26, 2008 edition of grote visite (=Grand Round).

Jan Martens presents Dutch health insurance company ONVZ supports medical search engine MediGO (in English) posted at MedBlog.nl.

This search engine helps Dutch consumers finding reliable health information. All sites included are evaluated by medical professionals. Consumers can evaluate the sites delivered by the search, this influences following search results.

Marjolein Fermie presents Who is in charge? posted at De gezondheidszorg leuker en effectiever.

In a Dutch home for the elderly they decided not to resuscitate people above the age of 70 only residents who explicitly request it on special forms will be resuscitated following cardiac arrest.

Frank Wolterinks presents The white fences of Anky van Grunsven posted at Een andere visie op besturen in de zorg.

He had the pleasure of interviewing Anky van Grunsven about similarities between training a horse and managing an organization. Feeling secure as employee is one of them.

Laika Spoetnik presents The Best Study Design… For Dummies (in English) posted at Laika’s MedLibLog.

She writes in English and Dutch so you have no excuse for not reading this excellent post. She clearly explains Randomized Controlled Trials (RCT’s) and the levels of evidence. She uses an example which is easy to follow: Does beta carotene prevent lung cancer.

That concludes this edition. Submit your blog article to the next edition of grote visite using our carnival submission form. Past posts and future hosts can be found on our blog carnival index page.
