The question remains whether this was due to ECT or the course of the illness. We often see unipolar patients in a slightly hypomanic state after recovery from depression but most of them have been seriously ill for a very long time and the hypomanic state subsides within days.

		<description>Interesting to read high switch rate, 50%, during ECT.  It&#039;s been almost 2 months since my last ECT treatment.  It took me a couple of weeks to realize I wasn&#039;t depressed anymore!  After that I &quot;switched&quot; into hypomanic symptoms, which I only took notice of b/c my sleep was horribly affected.  First thing my pdoc did was lower my antidepressant stating it could be pushing that state and increase mood stabilizer.  Interesting...I never really thought about the role ECT could play in it.</description>
