Interesting video on the e-Patient using e-Health.

e-Health: More than 52.2% of the European population in 2007 use the Internet for health related purposes. In 2005 this percentage was 43.2%. The use of Internet for health information is growing. In the future elderly will also participate. Interactivity will play an important role in ehealth information development.

  1. Interesting perspective about e health. I worked a little in a lab a few years ago where they where trying to set the standards for the emr s and other kind of records related to health, and I thought that all parts will never come to an agreement among themselves, not to mention the difficulty of keeping the privacy of the patients, which is a complicated things. But the fights among pharma, md s, public opinion, hospitals was fierece. Another thing I experimented with was a companion robot for the elderly people who could not stay at home without surveilance, it was an interesting alternative for taking care of them, they where funny, humman shaped and with a monitor in their heads to communicate face to face with doctors, and also lots of instruments to measure the different vital signs and health indicator of the patient, and triggering an alarm when they where of balance. I did not see that become popular yet, but who knows how long will that take.
