Here in an area that gets snow between Indianapolis and Chicago, the two things that puzzle me are these: First, apparently a large percentage of the driving population forgets how to drive on snow, despite the fact that it is exactly like driving in a heavy rain, except whiter, and so the first snowfall is very dangerous as people are having to remember by doing.

Secondly, at the first sign of snow, everyone runs to the grocery store and buys bread, milk and eggs. What, making french toast is the proper response to a snowstorm? This has entered the family lexicon. "Guess we're gonna have to stay home and make french toast."
