KI: Michael Levin from Brad Kremer on Vimeo. Nice video, photographer at work but most of all also an excellent camera men. There’s a new twist on the ubiquitous photo shoot behind-the-scenes video and it looks less like something you’d see on YouTube and more like something you’d see on MTV (well, back when MTV played music videos). F STOP photographer Michael Levin recently showed me a stylized short film of him shooting on the south coast of Japan. The origins of pleasure

Dr Shock

Very inspiring, funny talk starting with a nice anecdote about a Dutch art collector selling a Vermeer to a nazi in World War 2. Why do we like an original painting better than a forgery? Psychologist Paul Bloom argues that human beings are essentialists -- that our beliefs about the history of an object change how we experience it, not simply as an illusion, but as a deep feature of what pleasure (and pain) is. Dr Shock
July 22, 2011

I thought that, despite our best intentions, we are all in the Impact Factory together and perhaps we need to have a British Journal of Psychiatry song we could sing to our potential contributors, which I know includes all of us, so here it is: The Impact Factory Song There comes a time of year Which for some yields joy and cheer Whereas for others it brings .....read more »

Readers from this blog recognize my interest in presentation skills. Not only the presenting but also the design of slides. Often I've written about the boring powerpoint slides often used in lectures with endless bullet points and great deal of text. Several authors have explained why these bullet points won't teach the audience anything. They have argued why simple design principles in developing the slides does improve the retention of information. how people learn best from words and pictures, based on the theoretical underpinnings of multimedia learning theory, and, accordingly, to understand how to design effective multimedia instructional messages Multimedia learning .....read more »
