When to start Power Point for a presentation?
Usually we start right of with opening power point and start making slides. In the video above the argument is made that this habit is to soon, it explains clearly why. Several other methods used when making a presentation calls for makings slides far way up on the road to building your presentation. The presenter in this video is known for his Extreme Presentation Method. With this previous link you can see the 10 steps for building a presentation with this method. You can also download a pdf file of the Extreme Presentation Method overview and print it out. I have reviewed the book mentioned on the website here: The Extreme Presentation Method.
Surely other methods are also available for making a presentation, another one is Beyond Bullet Points or Resonate by Nancy Duarte, her company made the famous presentation by Al Gore with his presentation: An Inconvenient Truth.

Hi Dr. Thanks for this method. I’ll definitely try to use it the next time. I’d like to share this on Twitter. For your info, there is a site I use to download templates, maybe it is also useful for other readers of your blog. http://www.free-power-point-templates.com

It’s not just a matter of delaying construction of the slides. It’s a matter first of figuring out what your audience needs to hear, how to verbalize it in an interesting way – one that will keep their attention – and then creating the verbal part. Only then should you think about PowerPoints, and only use them to reinforce or illustrate your key points. DO NOT use them as a teleprompter! Read Gar Reynolds’ “Presentation Zen” and its companion “Presentation Zen Design” or Nancy Duarte’s “slide:ology” if you really want to see how to construct a good presentation – one that your audience will find interesting and compelling.
